The Growler USA team is excited to announce the addition of Michael Wurm as Corporate Executive Chef. With nearly 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Wurm will be charged with menu development, food and kitchen training, recipe management and food safety for Growler USA.
Most recently, Wurm worked as Senior Corporate Chef at Muise Innovation in Chicago, where he worked to develop new menu items for international restaurant concepts such as YUM! Brands, Denny’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Applebee’s. Prior to that, Wurm worked as the Executive Chef for several Chicago restaurants, including D.S. Tequila and the Bellwether.
“It is an exciting time to join the emerging Growler USA brand and be a part of the concept as it grows to neighborhoods across the country,” said Wurm. “I look forward to bringing my passion for upscale pub food and my corporate experience to help Growler establish its dominance as the premium American craft beverage and pub experience.”
As a part of his role with Growler, Wurm has worked to refine and improve the menu for the franchise system, including items like the Loaded Sidewinders, which are beer-battered fries with peppered white cheddar, thick-cut bacon and avocado, and the Chicken & Waffles, topped with a southern-fried, beer-battered chicken breast, sunny side egg, maple soy reduction and green onions.
Growler USA is a microbrew pub dedicated to offering only 100 percent American-made craft beverages and a food menu engineered to celebrate the flavors of each drink. Each location offers a variety of regional and nationally recognized beverages, and remains True to the Brew™ with up to 100 taps of craft beer, hard cider, draught wine, and hand-crafted non-alcoholic beverages such as craft root beer and kombucha tea.
The addition of Wurm comes as a result of the fast-paced growth and consumer demand the brand has experienced in the past year, including the opening of eight pubs in 2016 and inking more than 40 franchise agreements. In the year ahead, the brand plans to open 25 new locations, including pubs in the states of California, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
